Craobh Rua Camlocha is delighted to invite all members of our club to the inaugural Simon Nutley Coaching Day on Saturday 25th July at Páirc Na Craobh Rua.
This day has been established to honour the memory and legacy of Simon Nutley, who hailed from New-Inn, Co. Galway and was a proud hurler with the famous Sarsfields GAA Club. Although Simon’s time with Craobh Rua was relatively short, he left a profound and lasting impression through his passion for hurling, his love of the game and his belief in what our games can bring to people and communities.
Simon also left a lasting family connection with Craobh Rua. His sons, Aodhan and Brendan, both wore the red and white with distinction. Aodhan continues to play a vital role within the club as a dedicated member of Coiste Craobh Rua and currently leads the development of camogie within the club.
We are also delighted to welcome Paul Kilgannon (Carver Coaching) as our guest coach. A native of Claregalway, Co. Galway and a lifelong member of Carnmore GAA, Paul is one of Ireland’s most respected coach developers. Alongside his work with Carver Coaching, he has worked with inter-county set-ups including Limerick and Offaly, helping coaches and players develop high-performance environments while remaining true to the core principles of the game.
All sessions are open to everyone. Coaches, players, parents, mentors and volunteers are welcome to attend whichever session best suits their interests. However, the Fundamentals Session (3:00pm–4:00pm) is one we would particularly encourage everyone to attend. It will explore the coaching of the fundamental skills of hurling and camogie from child through to adult, making it relevant regardless of the age group you currently work with or hope to become involved with in the future.
Schedule for the day:

🕜 1:30pm–2:30pm – Youth (U14/U16) Session
🕒 3:00pm–4:00pm – Fundamentals Session – Exploring skills development from child to adult
